Tseng tied for 19th after 1st round of Japan LPGACNA TAIPEI--World No. 1 Yani Tseng of Taiwan played an erratic first round at the US$1.2 million Mizuno Classic in Japan Friday but stayed in contention in the 54-hole tournament by finishing the day just three shots off the pace.
November 3, 2012, 12:03 am TWN Tseng, grouped with South Korean world No. 4 Inbee Park and Swede Anna Nordqvist, carded a 1-under 71 with three birdies, an eagle, and four bogeys. The Taiwanese star was at even par after a bogey on the par-4 12th, but quickly moved to 3-under with an eagle at the par-5 13th and a birdie on the par-4 14th. She fell back with two bogeys down the stretch to finish tied for 19th with 10 other players at 1-under, three shots behind leaders Jiyai Shin of South Korea and Ayako Uehara of Japan, who shot 68s. “I had some good tee-shots and putts but just my 2nd shots were not coming along,” Tseng said after the round. “I'm very disappointed with the bogeys on 15th and 18th. I should made more chances but I couldn't. It's just one of those days. One under par is not a bad score but I could've done better.”
