US dollar sheds NT$0.008 to end day at NT$29.292 on Taipei forex

The U.S. dollar fell against the New Taiwan dollar yesterday, shedding NT$0.008 to close at NT$29.292.

Turnover totaled US$446 million during the trading session.

The U.S. unit opened at the day's high of NT$29.300, off a low of NT$29.220 before the close.

Asian currencies mostly rose yesterday, on what dealers said was hot money flowing into the region.

The South Korean won rose sharply and touched 1,094.5 against the U.S. dollar at one point, a 13-month high.
