DOH releases scheme for supplementary premiumThe China Post The Department of Health (DOH, 衛生署) yesterday announced the National Health Insurance (NHI) supplementary premium scheme, which requires citizens to pay 2 percent of their income if it exceeds NT$5,000 a year, in addition to the premium fee, based on six different income sources.
October 26, 2012, 12:03 am TWN The DOH announced that disadvantaged people do not need to pay the 2 percent supplementary premium for their part-time income. The DOH stated that there are six income categories: bonuses more than four times the insurance the person paid for; part-time income; dividend income; interest income; gains from self-owned businesses; and rent. The new NHI system will be implemented starting Jan. 1 2013. By then, citizens will start paying for the new NHI premium and the NHI supplementary premium.
