DOH releases scheme for supplementary premium

The DOH announced that disadvantaged people do not need to pay the 2 percent supplementary premium for their part-time income.

The DOH stated that there are six income categories: bonuses more than four times the insurance the person paid for; part-time income; dividend income; interest income; gains from self-owned businesses; and rent.

The new NHI system will be implemented starting Jan. 1 2013. By then, citizens will start paying for the new NHI premium and the NHI supplementary premium.
