Police yesterday arrested a male suspect in a hit-and-run that left three dead and three injured in Pingtung County last week.
As of press time, suspect Lin Feng-te (林豐德) is being questioned by police. Records show he was a fugitive on the National Police Agency's (警政署) “Top 10 Most Wanted” list for assault with a firearm in 1996. After years behind bars, he was released on parole.
Police arrested Lin at 3:15 p.m. yesterday on Dashun Road (大順路) of Donggang Township (東港鎮).
He is a suspect in the hit-and-run last week that killed three and injured three passengers. Shortly after midnight on Oct. 20, a black BMW 740 struck two scooters turning left at an intersection. Less than 20 hours later, 50-year-old Chen Wen-chang (陳文昌) surrendered to police and confessed to the crime.
Witnesses have claimed that the man at the wheel was visibly intoxicated, but police detected no trace of alcohol in Chen's system.
