Hon Hai unconsolidated sales up 8.46%

TAIPEI -- Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., the world's largest contract electronics maker, saw sales in September grow at a pace that analysts said was slightly slower than expected.

The company on Tuesday reported unconsolidated revenue of NT$240.53 billion in September, up 8.46 percent from the same period last year and up 8.19 percent from the previous month.

For the first nine months of 2012, Hon Hai's unconsolidated revenue totaled NT$2.23 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 20.37 percent, the company said in a statement.

Despite the positive growth, the sales increase in September was still “slightly worse-than-expected,” according to analysts quoted in the local media.

They attributed the moderate growth mainly to the fact that Hon Hai's shipments of Apple Inc.'s iPhone 5 have not reached their full scale.

Demand for Hon Hai's contracting services remains strong, however, and the company is still expected to enjoy a growing market, the analysts believed.

At the same time, Hon Hai is also set to launch its own 60-inch LCD TVs at the end of October that could help boost growth.
