THI Group Ltd., a freight service provider for Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., which assembles the iPhone 5, said the company has already benefited from the mid-September launch of the new device.
THI said its revenues and profits generated from Hong Kong and Southern China in August have increased about 50 percent and that revenues and profits are expected to maintain momentum until November.
In addition, THI posted a 14.5 percent profit margin for freight services in July, compared with a 15.6 percent profit margin in August.
Chang Kuo-wei, president of EVA Airways Corp., the nation's second-largest carrier, said earlier this month that shipments in the fourth quarter will definitely outperform third quarter figures thanks to the launch of the iPhone 5.
Shipment volume is expected to carry on through the fourth quarter as Microsoft Corp. is scheduled to launch its touch-friendly Windows 8 operating system at the end of the month, Chang said.
