With the opening of Dongmen Station last Sunday, TRTC rerouted the MRT to decrease traffic at Taipei Main Station.
TRTC said the main station yesterday had reduced numbers, with 64,600 passengers transferring there, a decline of 17,400 compared to the same day last week.

The company decreased the headway - - the gap between two trains - - from two minutes 15 seconds to two minutes five seconds.
Some 400 employees of TRTC were also dispatched by the company to assist passengers, especially at Guting Station, Zhong Xiao Xing Sheng Station, and Taipei Main Station.
The headway of trains from Zhonghe (中和) to Luzhou (蘆洲) or Xinzhuang (新莊) was also reduced from six minutes to three minutes, according to TRTC.
The headway from Beitou Station (北投站) to Taipower Building Station (台電大樓) remained at three minutes.
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin (郝龍斌) appeared at the temporary control center in the Taipei City Hall which yesterday morning began monitoring the MRT. Hau also went to Guting and Taipei Main Station to inspect the system during rush hour. Hau thanked the TRTC personnel for helping citizens become comfortable with the new system.
