TAIPEI--A newly renovated food court at Terminal 1 of the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport opened Saturday, with the aim of providing better services for travelers.
The food served at the country's main gateway has long been lambasted for being expensive and bland.
After a renovation period of around two months, the Taoyuan International Airport Corp. (TIAC) hopes the new dining area will give a better impression to foreign visitors.
Minister of Transportation and Communications Mao Chi-kuo said at the inauguration ceremony that he hopes the new food court will help promote Taiwanese delicacies to the world.
TIAC said the prices at the food court are similar to similar facilities in downtown Taipei.
The food court sells classic Taiwanese snacks such as various traditional dumplings, meatballs, pearl milk tea, Taiwanese-style fried chicken and sweet pork sausage wrapped in sticky rice.
