TAIPEI--The Department of Investment Services under the Ministry of Economic Affairs said Saturday it has scheduled a seminar for October to provide information to help the local service sector penetrate the huge China market.
The department said the seminar will be held at the Taipei International Convention Center on Oct. 12 amid increasing economic exchanges across the Taiwan Strait.
The seminar will focus on experience sharing from Taiwanese investors who have had footholds in the China service market for years to give potential local investors a better understanding of the mainland market so they can seize business opportunities there, the organizer said.
The department said representatives from Gourmet Master Co., which currently operates the 85 Degree C Cafe chain in China, and CoCo Tea shop chain, which has set up a broad network on the mainland, will attend the seminar to brief participants on the success of their China investments.
In addition, experts from Taiwan-based China Productivity Center, which provides local enterprises with assistance to map out business expansion strategies and boost competitiveness, will lecture on distribution and marketing approaches in the service sector, the department said.
In the first eight months of this year, Taiwan's investments in China totaled US$7.2 billion, down 25.08 percent from a year earlier, according to the Investment Commission.
During the same period, China's investments in Taiwan rose more than 300 percent from a year earlier to US$135.54 million, the commission said.
