Suzhou has largest Taiwan capital investment in China

TAIPEI -- Suzhou in Jiangsu province has the largest amount of Taiwanese capital investment compared with other Chinese cities, the city's Taiwan Affairs Office said yesterday.
Taiwanese investment in Suzhou, including deals that have been approved, stands at more than US$100 billion and US$30 billion of it has already been injected, China's Xinhua News Agency reported, citing statistics compiled by the office.
More than 10,000 Taiwanese businesses are currently operating in the city, the report said.
According to the Suzhou Taiwan Affairs Office, the city is currently developing the research, development and design sector, strategic emerging industries, and the service industry.
Taiwanese businesses account for 40 percent of the strategic emerging industries and 12 percent of the service industry in Suzhou, the report said.
In the first six months of this year, trade between Suzhou and Taiwan totaled US$13.87 billion, or 19.8 percent of all trade between Taiwan and China. The 20 largest listed electronics companies in Taiwan have all set up offices in Suzhou, the report said.
