Local team wins Palomino World Series for 2nd timeCNA COMPTON, California--Taiwan's baseball team won the Palomino League World Series for the second time Monday, defeating a team from California 5-1.
August 8, 2012, 12:22 am TWN Taiwanese starter Hsu Tsai-chuan shut out California's Urban Youth Academy for six innings. The U.S. team scored its only run in the seventh on an error by Taiwan's second baseman Ho Shao-pin and a hit. Hsu allowed just four hits in the seven innings he pitched. During the series, Hsu yielded a total of eight hits and three runs over 14 innings in two starts. Despite his error, Ho was the star of the game, hitting a triple in the second frame that gave the Taiwan team its first run. He made an infield hit in the beginning of the fourth, when the Taiwanese lineup widened the gap to 5-0 with a bunt, a walk, two hits and a sacrifice hit.
