West Asian group to learn organic farming in TaiwanCNA TAIPEI--Over 20 young people from seven West Asian countries have started a 10-day tour of Taiwan to learn about organic farming and green industry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said yesterday.
June 21, 2012, 12:39 am TWN Their experiences will be of great use to them because their home countries are transforming themselves and becoming more energy aware, said Teng Shen-ping, an official from the ministry's Department of West Asian Affairs, the organizer of the program. “The program is also a great opportunity to promote Taiwan to the world,” he said. The 23 people, aged less than 30 and chosen from a large number of applicants, hail from Turkey, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, countries that have large desert areas, he said. “It should be a new experience for them to see how vegetables are grown here,” Teng said, while outlining a tour to an organic farm on the outskirts of Taipei. |
