Rock band Garbage to put on show in Taipei Aug. 15

TAIPEI--The alternative rock band Garbage will perform in Taiwan for the first time at the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 2 on Aug. 15.

The band announced their return to touring upon the release of a new album, "Not Your Kind Of People" after a seven-year hiatus.

The tour launched in May 2012 in Los Angeles and will take the band through North America, Europe and Asia.

Garbage has sold over 17 million copies of their five albums worldwide, with their self-titled debut album selling over 5 million copies in 1995.

The band has been nominated for many music industry awards, including the Grammys.

They won the Breakthrough Award for the MTV Europe Music Awards in 1996 and Best Special Effects for the MTV Video Music Awards for their music video, "Special," in 1999.

The songs "Crush" and "The World Is Not Enough" were used as soundtracks in the films "Romeo and Juliet" and "007 The World Is Not Enough," respectively.

Lead vocalist Shirley Manson, who hails from Scotland, is a fashion trendsetter.
