Local heroes Lin, Tseng meet at TIME 100 Gala celebration

Two "Glories of Taiwan," the first Taiwanese-American NBA player Jeremy Lin and the world's top-ranked female golfer Yani Tseng, met for the first time at a celebration in New York Tuesday night as they were both honorees in the 2012 TIME 100 most influential list.

Attending the TIME 100 Gala at the Lincoln Center, Tseng and Lin shook hands and posed for photographs together as they walked the red carpet.

The New York Knicks point guard wore a black suit and blue tie; the No. 1 golfer was dressed in a white top and black pants with a silver necklace as a decoration.

The duo immediately won media attention when they walked on the red carpet, the New York crowd especially excited to see Knicks hero Lin with many calling his name when standing in a long line around the red carpet.

Speaking to reporters, Lin said he was honored to be selected by Time magazine at the top of "The 100 Most Influential People in the World" for 2012.

The NBA sensation said his rehabilitation was going well and he had even started doing some running. He said he hopes to return to the Knicks' roster this season if the team makes a deep run in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Tseng said she was extremely excited to be able to make it into the top 100 list and later made a post to her Facebook page calling the inclusion in the list as her greatest honor.

"Met a lot of influential cool people. This is just amazing," Tseng said in the post, adding that she hopes to join the same event next year.

Every year Time invites its readers around the world to vote online for "the leaders, artists, innovators, icons and heroes who they think are the most influential people in the world for that particular year."

The Time 100 Gala also hosted an eclectic mix of celebrities and powerful people, including New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Congratulations to both of them. BUT this list also name people who have done absolutely NOTHING to influence anyone. Examples: Rihanna, Pippa Middleton. How did this list name these two shallow women?

Congrats to NBA player Jeremy Lin and the world's top-ranked female golfer Yani Tseng.

My god!!! Can anybody tell me why QUISLING LEE TENG HUI, the corrupt grand old BUSHIDO man, was on the list of 100? Even if N_LTH was on top 101. Heheh.

That proves again that N_LTH was a FAKE Mr. Democracy that can't influence people of the world.

Am I right ludahai_nippon? I have proven my point.
