Gov't to push tax reforms, bolster care provision: Ma

TAIPEI--President Ma Ying-jeou said yesterday that his administration will spare no effort in the coming years to promote tax reform and provide better care for disadvantaged groups.

The government will seek tax fairness, under which the wealthy and high-earning people will be required to pay higher taxes, he said at a meeting with a business group at the Presidential Office.

While seeking tax fairness, the administration will bolster the provision of care for disadvantaged groups, including the elderly, he stressed.

“Our goal is to not only let everyone amass wealth but also ensure that the maximum number of people enjoy the fruits of growth,” he said.
