Lin leads Knicks to win with career-best

TAIPEI--Jeremy Lin, the first NBA player of Taiwanese descent, scored a career-high 25 points in his 36 minutes of action Saturday, helping the New York Knicks shoot down the New Jersey Nets in a 99-92 victory.

In his 36 minutes on court, Lin scored 25 points, seven assists and five rebounds in the back-to-back game against the Nets.

Lin came off the bench to “control a sluggish offence,” and even “outplayed Nets all-star point guard Deron Williams” Saturday evening, Associated Press reported.

Lin was still trying to absorb it all.

“This night, it hasn't really sunk in yet to be honest. I'm still kind of in shock about everything that happened. I'm just trying to soak it all in,” Lin told the crush of reporters that surrounded him after the game.

The American-born point guard came onto the court three minutes, 35 seconds before the end of the first quarter, with the Knicks trailing by six points. He penetrated the lane constantly and converted at the basket repeatedly to take the Knicks seven points ahead of the Nets two minutes before the game ended.

Lin was at his best, scoring 12 points, in the fourth quarter.

It was a home game for the Knicks at Madison Square Garden, which meant thousands of excited fans. “J-e-r-e-m-y” they chanted at the end of the game.

Lin outshone teammates Tyson Chandler and Amar'e Stoudemire, who fired 17 points each.

The second-year pro and former Ivy League player was waived by the Golden State Warriors last December but was later signed by the Knicks.

He was not much of a factor in the team and was sent to the NBA's Development League, where he had a triple-double that finally got the attention of Knicks' head coach Mike D'Anton.

“We've seen bits and pieces and sometimes, I thought he was trying to do a little too much,” D'Anton said. “We told him to do what he does, but don't try to do everything. The biggest thing is he has a point guard's mentality.”

Millions of US$ were given to Melo, Amare and Tyson to play basketball, which their performance were miserable in the last 12 games with one win beside this one. Baron Davis.... who? Why wait for his return. And ask Clipper owner Donald Sterling for B. Davis. Lin's performance was stellar, an unsung hero. Coach D'Anotni, please give he more chances to perform....he is few more games, NY may win more and save your job.

It is totally refreshing to see somewhat of a Taiwanese heritage able to perform in the biggest stage of Basketball. This will provide motivation for Taiwanese youngsters to strive for basketball greatness.
Unlike other Asian NBA players, Lin is of normal height ie. not seven foot. Tremendous performance Lin. Look forward to you showing the world what you are capable of.

I am glad to see the Taiwanese American get into the NBA. I saw this kid play a few times and was impressed. He isn't superstar player caliber but he could hold his own.

With that kind of performance from Jeremy Lin, let's hope the Knicks use him more. And he continues to do his part and deliver. The Knicks need to make the playoffs with the kind of talent they have. They lack stellar guard play. The ball is moving around enough. Got to play unselfish basketball fellas.

Jeremy scores 28 points, highest and another win for NY against Utah, even without Melo, Baron and Amare....Incidentally, he is a devoted Christian, watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fYrTv_eekI
