Ma pledges to improve Taiwan's travel qualityNoting that the private sector has invested at least NT$300 billion (US$10 billion) in the tourism industry during the past four years, Ma urged business operators to continue to upgrade their services. “Taiwan is relatively young in the global tourism market,” Ma said. “Even as we seek quantitative growth, we must also make qualitative improvements in both infrastructure and services.” To accomplish that goal, a more comprehensive transportation network will be established in the near future, said the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC). For instance, direct flight services will keep growing between Taiwan and China, while air links will be opened between the city airports of Taipei and Seoul in March, said MOTC Minister Mao Chi-kuo. As a result, Mao said, the “Golden Flight Routes” between Taipei, Tokyo, Shanghai and Seoul will help Taiwan emerge as one of the region's future travel hubs. | |||||||||||||
