Tsai begins 9-day journey of 'gratitude and reflection'

Tsai's campaign staff pointed out yesterday that her “trip for gratitude and reflection” would be focused on meeting with the grassroots constituents and DPP campaign office representatives.

The only open-to-public scheduled stop during the period is her first meeting at a local restaurant in Pingtung City. The media have been notified of no other schedules so those attending the meetings may freely express their opinions, which Tsai will humbly absorb, her staff said.

Tsai will be in Pingtung County and Tainan City today, and will travel through Chiayi City, Yunlin County, Changhua County, and Nantou County on Jan. 29. She will fly to Penghu County and be back to Taichung City on Jan. 30, and on Jan. 31, she will visit Kaohsiung City, Miaoli County, and Hsinchu City. On Feb. 1 she will visit New Taipei City and Taipei, and will further venture through Taoyuan County, Hsinchu County, and Chiayi County on Feb. 2. She will then fly to Kinmen on Feb. 3, be back in Keelung City and Yilan County on Feb. 4, and will fly to Hualien County and Taitung County, where she concludes her nine-day trip, on Feb. 5.

DPP spokesperson Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) said yesterday that the detailed schedule of Tsai's trip around Taiwan has not been set. In addition to opening her first event in Pingtung City to the media, in which DPP Secretary-General Su Jia-chyuan (蘇嘉全) will also be present, Tsai may arrange other public events throughout the trip, Chen said, adding that it is quite possible that Tsai would share with the public her reflections on the last day of the trip.
