DPP prepares for crucial election reviewHung Chih-kun, another DPP leader, said the party should map out dramatic reforms as early as possible instead of simply reading a review report. In addition to the discussions by DPP leaders themselves, Hung said the party should invite scholars, think tanks, social groups and business organizations to provide suggestions for the party's transformations. Kuo Cheng-liang, a former DPP legislator, said the party should give open floors to all discussions and suggestions for major breakthroughs because there will be no major elections in Taiwan in the next two years. He suggested that former Premier Hsieh and former Vice Premier Chiou I-jen offer more advice because they are regarded as among the people with most resourceful ideas in the party. Some political analysts expect fierce debates at the discussion meeting with some people seeking to nail those responsible for the defeat. The situations faced by the DPP will become more complicated as the different factions within the party are jockeying for greater influence to control the party's policies and future development since Tsai has tendered her resignation as party leader. | |||||||||||||
