McDonald's set to change prices of 20 menu items

TAIPEI -- The Taiwan branch of McDonald's Corp., the world's largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, announced yesterday that it will raise the prices of some 20 food items on its menu, including that of the Big Mac, the following day.

The price for a Big Mac set meal — consisting of a Big Mac, asoft drink and french fries — will be increased from the currentNT$115 (US$3.84) to NT$119, and that for a Grilled Chicken Burger setmeal will be raised from NT$125 to NT$129.

The price adjustments reflect rising prices of raw materials and fluctuations in the prices of local ingredients, McDonald's Taiwan said.

Though many prices will be increased, those for other products will become cheaper, the company said, including prices for 20 McNuggets, which will fall from NT$199 to NT$179, while the price for Egg McMuffin will cost NT$5 less.
