Nonprofit provides burn care training in NicaraguaThe focus of the program is to share the techniques of using tailor-made pressure garments to help the region advance its medical care for burn patients, Tu Yu-hsien, director of the foundation's rehabilitation center, said at an Oct. 4 news conference in the Central American country. Also speaking at the event, Vivian Pellas, founder of the Asociacion Pro Ninos Quemados de Nicaragua (APROQUEN), thanked Taiwan and the organization for their assistance in helping children with burn injuries receive better rehabilitation and care. APROQUEN is a nonprofit organization Pellas set up in 1991, which has the mission of providing “free, complete and specialized medical treatment to children from the poorest sectors of Nicaraguan and Central American society, using the most up-to-date methods and treatments.” | |||||||||||||
