Tsai to announce VP on Aug. 28DPP presidential campaign spokesperson Hsu Chia-ching added that further questions regarding the VP nominee will be addressed at the party's national campaign committee meeting today. The meeting will be hosted by former DPP premier Su Tseng-chang, who also holds the title of “committee chairman” in Tsai's campaign office. Executive Directors DPP Secretary-General Su Chia-chuan (蘇嘉全) and ex-Taipei County Magistrate Lin Hsi-yao (林錫耀) will also be present to field the questions. The meeting and subsequent announcement on Aug. 28 will conceivably put to rest the building anticipation and speculation among the public and the press. Among those rumored to run with Tsai are Perng Fai-Nan, the governor of Central Bank of the Republic of China, former Deputy Premier Lin Hsin-yi (林信義), as well as Su and former premier Frank Hsieh. Tsai's announcement will come almost three months after President Ma Ying-jeou unveiled Premier Wu Den-yih as his running mate in early June. | |||||||||||||
