Updated Thursday, September 9, 2010 11:24 am TWN, The China Post news staff Prosecutors request detention of former judgeThe prosecutors raised the request after raiding residences of suspects and witnesses associated with the scandal, in Taipei City, Taipei County, Taoyuan County, Hsinchu City, and Taichung City. They asked the court to detain Fang A-sheng (房阿生), a former High Court judge, as evidence pointed to Fang's involvement in taking a bribe from another High Court judge, Chang Bing-long, who was sentenced to years in prison on charges of taking bribes in 1992 as well. Since July, prosecutors and investigators have raided residences and offices of several judges of the Taiwan High Court for several rounds to search for evidence against their taking bribes from Chang Bing-long, who was acquitted finally despite having been sentenced to several years in prison for taking bribes from a suspect accused of embezzlement.
