Standard rail tickets for holiday sold out

Tickets for train services from Taipei to Hualien, Taichung and Kaohsiung, during the tomb-sweeping holiday were already sold out, local media reported yesterday.

According to the local reporters, around 27,000 train tickets were bought in the first minute after online booking became available.

Approximately 455 tickets were sold per second, they continued.

Local reporters said Taiwan Railways' tickets booking system crashed on March 18 due to technical difficulties that Chunghwa Telecom encountered.

Officials of the railway company said they used a supporting system on March 19 and people were still able to purchase train tickets.

There are still High Speed Rail tickets available from April 2 to April 6, local media reported.
