Wearing Mukluks can cause orthopedic injuries

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Wearing Mukluks, a kind of snow boots, on a daily basis can cause ankles and knees injuries, according to a British media report.

Mukluks had become popular amongst young girls because of its cute fluffy look. However, as mukluks often use soft materials, have loose vamp structures and thin soles, they cannot give sufficient support to the ankles and feet. They tend to leave a lot spaces between the feet and the interior of the shoes.

As these shoes cannot wrap the feet tightly enough, it can hurt the wearer's ankle and knee bones, and even cause waist and back pains as the soles can not effectively absorb the shocks when walking. Many people had to seek medical help because of these injuries, according to the report.

Doctors advise wearers to choose boots made with softer materials and add thicker soles to the Mukluks.
