Sandstorms to affect Taiwan today

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) yesterday warned the public of a wave of sandstorms arriving today, which will affect air quality across the country, local media reported yesterday.

Since last weekend, dust storms have been looming over some of China's provinces and they are moving towards Taiwan, according to the EPC's statement.

The sandstorms are to blanket the whole island today, together with a cold air mass and a cold front, the EPC added.

However, the cold front is likely to bring rainfall and thus may reduce the influence of the sand-laden winds.

Meanwhile, temperatures in the south will drop to 13 degrees Celsius tonight and daytime highs will be only 19 degrees Celsius as a cold air mass and a cold front arrive today, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said yesterday.

The impact of the cold air mass will become most apparent from tonight until tomorrow morning, the CWB added.

The cold air mass will also cause occasional showers in the central, northern and eastern Taiwan today, according to the CWB.

The central and the southern areas will be less affected; central Taiwan will see highs of 26 degrees Celsius and lows of 16 degrees Celsius while temperatures in the south will be between 18 and 28 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures will climb and the weather will turn dry again during the day, Wednesday, when the cold air mass abates.

Are the pro-China Blues on here ready to admit that China's horrible land policies since the late 1960s are largely to blame for the ever-increasing sandstorms in Taiwan over the past couple of decades?

Dear ludahai_twn@, what does China's land policies have to do with politics and the KMT? Even if the DPP succeeds in achieving independence for Taiwan, would it stop the sandstorms from reaching the island?! Are the land policies in Taiwan any better? How about focusing on stabilizing the economy and taking care of the people first, and may be one day you and your DPP friends can talk about independence? If people cannot put food on their dinner table because the DPP is stealing money from them, being pro China or Independence would not matter.

Nobody can change the wonders of calamities that now affect the whole world. The only place that keeps you ludahai_twn safe and sound is 6 feet deep under the ground. No hatreds, no politicking and no colors down there. You can R.I.P. without FEAR without being ANNOYED. You can enjoy the steam bath or sauna bath courtesy from the King of HELL!!!

Why don’t you blame the USA and the Democrat and Republican Party why the Sandstorm struck the Americas since 1930-2007? Have you got the Brain to stop natural calamity?
