Temperature to hit a low of 6 degrees Celsius tomorrow

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Affected by a cold wave, temperatures across the country are to drop dramatically from today to Thursday, with the lowest temperature being 6 degrees Celsius Wednesday, said the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) yesterday.

As a cold wave is approaching, the CWB issued a 3-day cold weather report, starting from today, to warn the public of the upcoming freezing weather.

Temperatures will drop to as low as 6 degrees Celsius in the central, northern and northeastern parts of the island while the south will face a low temperature of 10 degrees Celsius.

It will rain in central, northern, and eastern Taiwan, along with the outlying islands, Penghu, Matsu and Kinmen, and these areas are likely to experience heavy rainfall. Intermittent rain is expected to scatter in the south and the southeast, according to the CWB forecast.

Until Thursday, temperatures in the north will be between 6 and 18 degrees Celsius. In central Taiwan, temperatures will be between 6 and 21 degrees Celsius.

The south will see a low temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, with highs of 24 degrees Celsius.

The cold wave will also affect visibility in the mountainous areas in central and northern Taiwan and the three outlying islands. Residents in these areas should be careful while driving their vehicles, warned the CWB.
