Employers who dismiss pregnant staff to be finedCLA said because of different physical conditions, some pregnant women had to quit their jobs for the health of themselves and their fetuses and to minimize the risks of miscarriages, as the current regulation only allow a maximum of 30 days non-hospitalized sick leaves. The new pregnancy leave plan announced by CLA last Saturday stated that working women would be allowed to take up to one year of unpaid pregnancy leave. Once the employees present the required medical verifications about their physical conditions, employers will not be allowed to turn down their leave requests. CLA said as the pregnancy leaves are no-pay leaves, employees would not apply unless they have real needs. Also, the pregnancy leaves will have minimal impacts on the employers CLA will amend the current regulations in May or June. | |||||||||||||
