Temperatures to start falling today because of cold front

Temperatures will start falling today as a result of an approaching cold front, with some central and northern areas likely to see lows of eight to 10 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, weathermen warned yesterday. The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said temperatures reached as high as 32.1 degrees in Chiayi yesterday, but they were expected to start falling in the early hours of today.

The cold spell will last until Wednesday, said the CWB, which also predicted rain for the northern and central areas.

There is a chance of snow in the high mountains, it added.

It will be a bit warmer in southern Taiwan, with low temperatures ranging from 11 to 19 degrees Celsius over the next few days, the CWB said.
