Songshan Airport expansion may be delayedCNA TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The expansion of Taipei Songshan Airport to accommodate more international flights may not be ready by October, and passengers may have to be patient, according to Minister of Transportation and Communications Mao Chi-kuo.
February 28, 2010, 12:01 am TWN Replying to a question at a Legislative Yuan question and answer session, Mao said Songshan Airport had been a domestic airport for many years until recently, creating inconveniences for passengers on international flights. The airport needs to be expanded after the airport's management concluded agreements to open international routes that will connect the city airport to Tokyo's Haneda Airport, Seoul's Gimpo International Airport and Shanghai's Hongqiao Airport, he added. Although it has limited capacity, the airport can become a “small but efficient” airport after the expansion of terminal one for international flights is completed, Mao said.
