Updated Monday, February 8, 2010 9:57 am TWN, The China Post news staff Ma visits former Judicial Yuan head Lin Yang-kangMa said that after serving as mayor of Taipei City, he deeply felt the great contributions made by Lin to the metropolitan city when Lin served as mayor, because it was Lin that decided to build the Feitsui Reservoir. Referring to southern Taiwan's serious water shortage, he said Lin's decision to build the reservoir for residents in the greater Taipei area has proved a highly accurate and far-sighted one.In response, Lin also extolled Ma's performance as Taipei Mayor and the nation's President, saying that Ma has done a very good job so far. Ma visited Lin in the company of Taichung Mayor, Jason Hu, and Secretary General, Liao Liao-yi, of the Presidential Office. When asked by reporters who will be the ruling Kuomintang's (KMT's) candidate for Taichung metropolitan city's (a merger of Taichung City and Taichung County) year-end mayoral election, Ma said both Hu and Liao are very good candidates, and that the KMT will announce its candidate for the at a proper time. Liao used to serve as magistrate of Taichung County. Earlier yesterday morning, Ma also visited fireman, Huang Ching-shan, of Taichung County, who was hospitalized after being seriously hurt when fighting a fire at the Dali Industrial Zone, and gave Huang a citation as a model fireman.
