Liu Teh-chuan, manager of China operations division of the 1111 Job Bank, said that major enterprises in Zhejiang, Shanghai and Beijing want to raid high-end talents in the optoelectronics field from Taiwan, they can offer annual pay of NT$3 million to NT$5 million, at least 25 percent to 30 percent higher than offered by their Taiwanese counterparts. Some can even offer stock warrants to attract field talents from Taiwan. Liu noted that high-tech firms in both sides of the Taiwan Straits are expected to engage in a war for high-caliber talents in the first and second quarters of the year. The study report said that besides high-ranking management manpower, marketing talents are also enjoying good opportunities for winning high salaries in Chinese enterprises with large sales volumes. The study indicates that these professionals can leverage their marketing prowess to tap the huge sales potential in mainland China for Chinese enterprises. On other fronts, many of Taiwan's jobless are showing intense interest in setting up franchises in mainland China, and some of Taiwan's major franchisers are already setting the stage for those people. The same study report also indicated that up to 80 percent of young salaried people seeking to set up their own businesses choose to set up online stores, mainly because of busy online trading, great familiarity with online operations, and the lower threshold of capital required to start out.
