Temperatures to rise as monsoon leaves

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- With a cold front and a northeast monsoon sweeping across the island, overall temperatures dropped significantly as of yesterday. Tamsui City yesterday morning saw a low 13.8 degrees Celsius, the lowest since entering the fall season.

The northeast monsoon effect is forecast to lessen and weather will warm up by one to two degrees Celsius today, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB). Wet and chilly weather will continue in the north and northeast regions.

In the northern region, temperatures will range from a low of 16 to a high of 20, with occasional showers. The middle region should see temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, while the southern region will be mostly sunny, with temperatures ranging from 22-27 degrees Celsius.

CWB predicted another northeast monsoon to approach on Saturday, dropping overall temperatures and bringing scattered showers.
