KMT lawmaker in affair to stay with wife

The KMT lawmaker attempted to reclaim his public integrity, stressing that although he was wrong in his personal life, his conduct in the public realm has been nothing less than honorable.

When questions were raised concerning the expensive sports car he had driven on his date with Sun, Wu explained that the car was leased to him and he initially planned to sign a rental contract in accordance with the Political Donation Law. In the face of public criticism, Wu immediately broke the lease and terminated the contract.

Regarding rumors that Wu owned over ten residences, the KMT legislator said he and his wife owned only three houses, two of which they had prior to entering politics. Wu stated that his political donations are spent in full accordance with the law; his special account currently contains a little more than NT$3 million that is mainly used to pay office and service personnel as well as cover administrative costs.

For the past few days, Wu claimed to receive many uplifting messages and a lot of encouragement but also a good amount of criticism from those who blame and curse him. To the latter group, Wu said he humbly and sincerely accepts the blame and will redouble his efforts as a legislator in support of the people.

The formerly outspoken lawmaker considers himself a professional legislator, citing his duties to the people as his motivation in standing up again after a very shameful fall. Wu added that from now on, he will keep a positive mindset and have the public's best interests at heart.

This was not Wu's first public apology. On Nov. 13., Wu first admitted to having an extramarital affair and apologized to his wife and for setting a bad example.

The very public extramarital date occurred only two days prior, when Wu and Sun were seen wining and dining at an upscale Japanese restaurant in the Xinyi District. The pair followed up their dinner with a two-and-a-half-hour rendezvous at a Dazhi motel, and pictures capturing the affair were splattered across the front page of the Apple Daily the next day.
