73 HSR workers turn themselves in for fraud

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Dozens of Taiwan High Speed Railway Company (THRSC) employees yesterday turned themselves in to law enforcement authorities in connection with a ticketing fraud, media reports said.

A total of 73 employees turned themselves in to the Investigation Bureau for allegedly defrauding THRSC by manipulating loopholes in the company's promotional sales for ordinary passengers, the reports said.

A total of 98 was said to have been involved in the alleged fraud, the reports said.

The employees hoped that their confessions could earn them lesser punishments, which could amount to prison terms as long as five years, the reports said.
