KMT legislator seeking mistrial in vote buying caseLegislator Liao Cheng-ching said the Taoyuan District Court concluded the trial hastily without confirming whether or not the evidence presented by the prosecution had been illegally obtained. He said he will appeal to the high court. The court on Tuesday sentenced Liao, who represents Taoyuan, for buying votes in last year's election. KMT Chairman Wu Poh-hsiung said the party so far has no plans to take disciplinary actions against Liao in line with the verdict, as the due process has yet to end. Wu said he considers the arguments that Liao is making in his own defense to be reasonable. Liao claims that it was one of his election aides that offered money to voters when asking them to come to the opening of the candidate's campaign office. | |||||||||||||
