NSB names former director as EU envoyThe National Security Bureau (NSB) said former Director-General Shi Hwei-yow will take over the EU representative office that has been vacant since last November. The NSB said Shi, a judge-turned-politician who once studied in Germany, is well-versed in European affairs. During his service in the NSB, Shi visited various EU countries on multiple occasions and submitted many policy proposals for government reference, the intelligence body said. Shi started his political career by heading the legal service department at the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), which handles cross-strait affairs. He later served as SEF deputy secretary-general as well as its secretary-general and vice-chairman. Shi, 57, has also been vice-chairman of the Cabinet-level Mainland Affairs Council and the head of the Coast Guard Administration. | |||||||||||||
