It is still to early to determine whether or not the tropical depression — progressing at its current speed — will turn into a typhoon. Another day or two of observation is needed to better predict the outcome, the bureau added. Affected by the low atmospheric pressure, torrential rain yesterday poured over Taiwan's eastern and southern regions as well as the surrounding southern islands. The mid and northern regions experienced downpours after midday. According to the CWB, as of yesterday morning, Taitung accumulated a total of 239 millimeters of rain while Hualien County reported 219 millimeters. For the weather today, the CWB predicted a pressure as hot and humid day, with temperatures in the north reaching a high of 34 to 35 degrees Celsius.
