Updated Saturday, July 4, 2009 9:56 am TWN, The China Post news staff FTTx network services on Alishan to be available Jul. 8Residents or tourists living in hotels on the Alishan used to suffer poor-quality images on the TV screens, but those problems will be completely addressed after the FTTx network becomes operational on the Alishan, the Chiayi branch officials said. The officials continued that starting July 8, travelers can enjoy HDTV (high-definition TV) programs and movies, as well as Internet services, as both the FTTx Internet service and mutual on demand multimedia (MOD) bandwidth services will become available then. Chunghwa Telecom started to design the FTTx network in September 2008, and then moved to install relevant optical fiber cables spanning 32.6 kilometers.
