Bike racks can be installed on buses: MOTCBikes have been allowed on MRT and trains, but now the ministry is revising regulations so non-foldable bikes can be carried by buses via bike racks. The act was originally intended to give cyclists traveling to eastern Taiwan for the newly opened scenic paths easier connections between the biking routes and transportation to-and-from local transport depots. If enacted, the new regulation would be in effect around the country. Each bus will be able to carry two to three bicycles. The racks will be attached to the front part of the bus, just like how it is often done in Western countries, according to the MOTC. The new regulation will not require all buses to be equipped with bike racks as bus companies can decide whether to install the racks, said the ministry. Cyclists may have to pay an extra fee for using the bike racks. | |||||||||||||
