Updated Sunday, May 17, 2009 11:20 am TWN, The China Post news staff Lee Teng-hui criticizes Ma's ECFA plansPresident Ma Ying-jeou, bowing to pressure from businesses, is bent on signing the ECFA, falling into China's plot of hijacking Taiwan economically to force unification, Lee said. “This (ECFA) is the most serious mistake that Ma has made,” said Lee in a written message delivered at a forum on his behalf by Huang Kun-hui, chairman of the Taiwan Solidarity Union. The former president had just recovered from a cold, and chose not to attend the forum on the impact of ECFA at the advice of the doctor. But in his message Lee said Ma is back-pedaling on human rights and democracy in his domestic policies. He is denying Taiwan's status as a sovereign country, and turning it into a “Taiwan region” under a “one China” framework, Lee said. He urged Ma to listen to the public opinions, rather than China's. He said the country's future will need a new constitution truly based on the people's opinions. But presidential spokesman Tony Wang said the ECFA is aimed at revitalizing Taiwan's economy. Wang said everyone in the democratic country has the right to speak up, and the Presidential Office respects Lee's views. While still president, the pro-independence Lee in the late 1990s said spelt out a so-called “two states theory,” describing China and Taiwan as having special state-to-state relations. China, angered by the theory, suspended cross-strait dialogue. But tensions across the strait have eased since Ma became president last May. KMT Deputy Secretary General Chang Jung-kung said Lee's “two states theory” has failed. He said Lee has also failed to adjust his views on cross-strait relations in line with the current trend. He seems to have a plan to want to invite Japan to re-colonize Taiwan, and would be happiest when his vision is realized. He says nothing on the recent fishing Island dispute where a Taiwanese captain of the fishing boat was captured and treated as a criminal by Japanese Govt. Oh yes, if Ma gets through with his plan, his so called vision of Taiwan being annexed once again by Japan will be gone. This ex President used to speak Hoklo in National events refusing to use the National Language as if this were the way for Taiwan. Whatever KMT proposes he opposes, bent on undermining KMT, the party that nurtured, supported, promoted him to be President of Taiwan. Being ungrateful he made sure the same good meals he had while being a KMT President is denied to those now in KMT. By his action he teaches Taiwanese not to be grateful. In the underworld when a person used the bowl to turn it upside down after having taken the good meal with the bowl, this person would be skinned alive. I am not ashamed to confess to you that not only do I feel sorry but my eyes are also visible with TEARS in front of my foreign and local friends alike when we visit the Memorial Hall of our Great President Chiang Kai-shek. Inside the hall was a big picture of Corrupt Chen SHAMELESSLY posted on both sides when millions of people were crying for him to RESIGN. I feel ashamed that Nipponese Lee Teng-hui visited the Yasukuni Shrine and forgot that not only the Taiwanese people but also other Asians have suffered under the Japanese. I feel ashamed that I am ignorant that Nipponese Lee Teng-hui was a Japanese army officer, his brother was a Japanese naval officer, and his father was a Japanese and Japanese police officer.
