CGA plans crackdown on China’s illegal fishingUnder the campaign, eight patrol vessels operated by patrol teams in such coastal cities and townships in northern Taiwan as Keelung, Oudi, Tamsui, Suao will jointly carry out the crackdown, officials said. The action comes in response to the fact that mainland Chinese fishing boats have been frequently found fishing illegally on Taiwan’s territory. In order to crack down on these mainland Chinese fishing boats, the large-sized operation by the MPDG is badly needed, officials said. They added that the crackdown will also help safeguard the ocean’s ecological resources, protect fishing rights of Taiwan’s fishermen, and prevent poor-quality mainland Chinese products from entering Taiwan, and keep Chinese plagues from spreading to the island. | |||||||||||||
