Yeh Chin-chuan successor to Lin Fang-yue

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Yeh Chin-chuan, deputy secretary-general to President Ma Ying-jeou, was appointed minister of the Department of Health yesterday.

Yeh, see photo, succeeded Lin Fang-yue, who resigned to take responsible for the food scare triggered by the malamine-tainted foods and drinks imported from China.

Yeh was director of public health in Taipei, who helped Ma Ying-jeou fight the SARS epidemic in Taipei in 2003. He served as Ma’s deputy mayor later.
