The Executive Yuan issued notification to the agencies under its auspices, urging their staff to either walk, cycle or take public transport to work on the day. The Executive Yuan also called on its agencies to switch off lights and turn off elevators for one hour during the midday break as part of their efforts to reduce CO2 emissions in observing the day. According to Shieh, Environmental Protection Administration Minister Chen Chung-hsing, Fair Trade Commission Chairman Tang Jinn-chuan and he himself will walk to their offices Tuesday morning.
