TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Authorities arrested three suspects in southern Yunlin County (雲林縣) on June 6 for allegedly manufacturing ketamine, the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB, 刑事局) said.
In a released statement, the CIB said that police in Taipei, Taoyuan and Yunlin separately received tips this January that two suspects surnamed Lu and Huang were engaged in producing illicit drugs at a remote warehouse in Yunlin County' Mailiao Township (雲林縣麥寮鄉).
Police said the two suspects, both Taoyuan natives, have been using other people's names to rent cars, warehouses and a factory in the township as well as purchasing imported chemical materials and equipment for producing drugs.
After closely watching the suspects for nearly six months, authorities launched a raid on June 6 at the factory in Mailiao Township, arresting three suspects, including Lu and Huang.
During the raid, the police found chemical materials, equipment for producing drugs and 2.4 kilograms of ketamine crystals, the CIB said.
The case is now being referred to the Taoyuan District Prosecutors' Office for further investigation.
