Chou Tsang-yang, head of the county’s Environmental Protection Department, said exhaust from old motorbikes are a major source of air pollution. It is an environmental trend to go for non-polluting or low-polluting forms of transportation, such as bicycles, which do not need gasoline, he said. But he said there are quotas for the cash incentives —- 60 openings for electrically-assisted bikes and 100 for the ordinary ones.
