Taoyuan airport ranked No. 4 for overall experience

TAIPEI--Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport ranks as the world's fourth best airport for its overall experience, according to a 2016 best airport survey by SleepinginAirports, an international travel website.

Taiwan's main international gateway trailed only Singapore Changi International Airport, Seoul Incheon International Airport and Tokyo Haneda International Airport in Japan in the survey focusing on the overall experience of travelers at airports.

The rankings were unchanged from 2015.

"Taipei Taoyuan Airport dazzles travelers worldwide with its enthusiasm and exuberance," said in its report on the world's best airports, released last week.

"Perhaps the world's most creative airport, every gate has a different theme, ranging from environmental conservation to SONY products, and from tea shops to the Hello Kitty," the website said.

"Outside of the lounges, the airport also offers a number of rest zones, shower areas (bring your own soap!), family rooms and free Wi-Fi," it added.

The Taoyuan airport was also ranked as the fourth best airport in Asia, behind the same three airports that headed the worldwide "overall experience" survey.

When gauging their overall experience, travelers were asked to evaluate airports based on such factors as comfort (rest zones and gate seating); services, facilities and things to do; food options; immigration/security; customer service; and cleanliness, the website said.

"The best airports in the world are those that truly dazzle and delight. Efficient, clean, fun, friendly, creative, comfortable, easy... Our list of happy adjectives taken from our voters' comments could go on and on," it said.
