TAIPEI--The Taoyuan County government on Saturday urged factories to strengthen internal checks and better manage pollution to improve the quality of the environment in industrial zones around the county.
The county's Environmental Protection Bureau said it has held meetings with enterprises in local industrial zones every quarter to review the results of their efforts to control water pollution and to push them to strengthen measures in this area.
It has also authorized service centers in industrial zones to test for water pollution and report their results to the Environmental Protection Bureau if any abnormalities in wastewater discharged by individual companies or a zone's sewage is found.
The county is home to 29 industrial zones, including seven in Chungli that are affiliated with the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Industrial Development Bureau (IDB), the bureau said.
