Three indicted for forging US currency in Taoyuan

TAIPEI--Three men were indicted Monday by the Taichung District Prosecutors Office for producing counterfeit U.S. currency.

The trio, identified only by their family names of Liu, Lin and Lu, opened a factory in Chungli City, Taoyuan County to print fake money in September 2013, the indictment said.

More than 2,400 fake US$100 dollar bills, along with 7,300 partially completed bills and machines used for the counterfeiting process, were seized during a raid on the facility in November.

According to prosecutors, the counterfeit bills were of high quality and difficult to differentiate from genuine ones by the general public.
