Updated Sunday, July 25, 2010 0:12 am TWN, The China Post news staff Taipower ordered to pay woman compensation over cable accidentThe woman, 40, was driving her scooter in Tayuan, Taoyuan County on the evening of Feb. 18, 2008 when she tripped over a loose Taipower cable, according to the court verdict cited by the Central News Agency. The woman, surnamed Huang, fell off and sustained injuries that included broken ribs. Huang sued the company, holding it responsible for failing to maintain its facilities. The Taoyuan district court ruled in favor of Huang and awarded her NT$420,000 in damages. The high court, returning a final verdict, argued that the motorcyclist should also be held partially responsible for the accident for not driving as carefully as she should have, and it therefore reduced the damages.
